Background
New to Pinot Grigio or thoroughly bored with it, come to us! Fifty years of professional sniffing-tasting-spit...should have given us just that little bit of extra experience. Getting soft with age, quality comes first for us, value for money follows. Having always been free to do so, we strive to buy as individually as possible. We like the classics of the Old World but we are also responsive to developments in the New - after all in the early 80s we were the first in the UK to import a comprehensive range of Australian wines from Penfold's - sadly now such a shadow of their former selves.
Finding what you want
The details in our own search engine are regularly checked but in case of difficulty it may be that you have omitted an apostrophe or an accent... and if you, like us, have trouble producing accents, just remember that to produce an acute accent (like the one in Rosé) you probably need to hold down Alt and then press 0233. Or, if that doesn't work, try pressing on Ctrl, Alt and the letter e all together. You may discover that we also stock roses!...
You can search by wine or grape type and there is a country of origin listing down the left hand margin of every page. The grape types listed in the search facility are normally the principal or leading ones and are not necessarily exhaustive or exclusive, the minority players among them not always getting a mention (life was ever thus). But the wine's tasting notes will generally give you more information. We have also introduced a grape variety 'directory', which gives a basic background to each grape variety and explation of some additional wine facts here.
If all else fails we are happy to respond to Email enquiries here.
Our order system
All orders are taken on a secure and encrypted server where you can use a credit or debit card with confidence. Our online transactions are taken through SagePay so we do not handle any card information directly. Nor do we take your money instantly but only when we are ready to process your order do we instruct SagePay to 'authorise' the transaction. Some Maestro debit cards seem to be able to be processed only by telephone. Reasons are outlined here. If you have difficulty paying by Maesto please feel free therefore to ring the Free orderline number at the bottom of this page.
If however you prefer not to pay by card you can ring our Orderline Free during office hours on 0500 708 007. Otherwise please proceed as follows:
Place your order and go as far as the order confirmation page. Highlight the contents of the pale yellow order box and copy and paste it into an Email to orderdrop@winedrop.co.uk. Add your address and any special requests. Then just put a cheque in the post (address details are on our contact page here) and we will despatch your order when we’ve banked it! Orderdrop will normally confirm despatch to your Email address the day before expected delivery.
Delivery
We strive for a prompt and smooth distribution service and for mainland England and Wales and lowland Scotland delivery on the day following despatch is standard. Highlands and Islands take a little longer. We also deliver throughout mainland Europe and indeed almost anywhere in the world. Further details are on the delivery page here. Please excuse us if some of our packaging is not entirely pristine - we think that provided it does not impair the journey, reusing packaging and giving it another trip will help to minimise waste!
Blog
And at last! We now have a WineDrop blog which reflects on the latest news and developments in the wine world and to which all are welcome to respond. Please click on the link here to take a look!
